Why us

When it comes to choosing care for your child, there are a lot of options. Skip-a-Long Davenport provides an unparalleled experience for children and families. From individual attention to in-house mental health support, we offer programs and resources that most Montessori and other big chain early childhood centers simply don’t.

What makes us different?

Mental health support

Children and families have access to a licensed mental health professional who collaborates with educators and provides guidance, resources, and support as needed.

Free extended hours

Skip-a-Long Davenport does not charge an extra fee for drop-offs or pick-ups between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Expert educators and curriculum

Our teachers are trained, credentialed professionals using an evidence-based curriculum designed around how young brains develop. Developmental assessments begin in infancy so learning is purposeful and age-appropriate.

Social and emotional learning

Through Conscious Discipline, children learn to recognize emotions, regulate responses, and build empathy in a calm, respectful environment.

Kindergarten readiness

Children attend full-time preschool and build the skills they need for school success through play, exploration, and guided learning—creating a seamless transition to kindergarten.

Strong family partnerships

Families are partners in the learning process. We communicate openly and work together to support each child’s growth.

Trusted and accredited

Skip-a-Long Davenport is nationally accredited, holds a top-in-the-area Iowa Quality for Kids (IQ4K) rating, and has served Quad Cities families with high-quality early care and education for more than 55 years.

“We’ve had such a great experience with our two boys at Skip-a-Long. It’s clear that the staff truly cares about their emotional, physical, and academic development. We always feel confident that they were safe, well cared for, and well fed. It gives us so much peace of mind knowing they were in a positive and nurturing environment.”
