Curriculum
Each day, children at Skip-a-Long Davenport explore their budding mental and social skills while gaining confidence and independence in a safe and nurturing environment with trusted educators.
Skip-a-Long Davenport utilizes Creative Curriculum, a research-based and comprehensive curriculum utilizing 38 objectives for development and learning that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Teachers plan with intention, tailoring their approach to each child. Weekly lesson plans follow a consistent daily rhythm that includes large and small group experiences, outdoor time, free play, and one-on-one connection with teachers.
While the structure provides consistency and security, play remains at the center as the most powerful way young children learn, connect, and make sense of the world.

The day begins with familiar faces and a warm greeting. Your child is welcomed by educators who know them—their interests, their routines, their comfort needs. You exchange a few words, knowing your child is stepping into a space where they are safe, supported, and genuinely cared for.
For parents, drop-off feels calm and reassuring. There’s no rush—just confidence that your child’s day is thoughtfully planned and in caring hands.

Inside the classroom, learning unfolds naturally. Children explore books, build structures, create art, and engage in hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and confidence. Educators guide learning through play—asking questions, encouraging problem-solving, and supporting social connections.
Whether your child is an infant discovering textures, a toddler learning independence, or a preschooler practicing early literacy and math, every moment is intentional and age-appropriate.
-
Meals, rest, and transitions are handled with care and consistency. Children learn routines that build independence while feeling emotionally supported. Educators model kindness, emotional awareness, and respect—helping children navigate big feelings in healthy ways.
Behind the scenes, emotional wellness is supported through thoughtful classroom practices and access to on-site mental health resources, ensuring children feel regulated and ready to learn.
-
As the day continues, children collaborate with peers, explore new challenges, and build confidence in their abilities. Educators observe and support each child’s growth—celebrating progress and encouraging curiosity.
For parents, there’s comfort in knowing your child is not just passing the time, but growing socially, emotionally, and academically.
-
When it’s time to head home, you reconnect with educators who share highlights from the day—new skills, new friendships, new moments of confidence.
Your child leaves feeling proud, supported, and excited to return tomorrow. You leave knowing you’ve chosen a place that honors childhood, partners with families, and invests deeply in your child’s future.
